Andrew Greenwood remembered

7 December 1960 to 5 September 2022
Andrew passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, at home earlier this month.
I first met Andrew, in 1988 although, it was soon apparent, that we had competed in motorcycle
trials at the same time as each other. We shared a love of all thing’s motorsport, and shortly
afterwards, I persuaded him to start racing in Clubman’s with me. He purchased a Mallock 20B from
Richard Mallock and we enjoyed a good few seasons preparing and racing our cars. It was a team
effort from day one with great banter between us, which some people just couldn’t get!
After a hiatus in the ‘90’s, due to business pressures etc, we returned to racing, this time with the
SRCC. A Shrike P15 was found in the States and brought back over in December 1999 to undergo a
full rebuild. We shared the car until a few years later when a second car came into the garage. The
couple of nights a week in the workshop, which as previously, became as important as the racing.
Although we sold the cars a couple of years ago, it was always our intention to race something again,
and during the continued workshop nights (now tending to off-road motorcycles), Andrew kept
suggesting different classes that appealed to him at that time. I am sure that if he was still with us,
we would be out somewhere soon, probably annoying a few people with our micky taking. Does
anyone remember the phrase we had on the back of the Shrike at one time? ‘No Rich Daddy’ it said,
as a tongue in cheek raspberry to a couple of drivers.
So long Andrew, you are missed already, and it already feels like the end of an era
Steve Morris – Racing friend and buddy.
The funeral will take place at The Vale Crematorium, Pershore, Worcestershire, on Monday 3 rd
October at 11am.
All involved with the SRCC send their sincere condolences to Andrew’s family and friends at this very sad time.
