Jon Crook remembered
Posted on: February 17th 2022 • Posted in: General NewsThe SRCC is deeply saddened to report the passing of Jon Crook who was our championship scrutineer for a number of years.
Jon was a much respected and very professional official who was able to communicate in friendly fair and firm way with competitors. Jon officiated at International level across a number of championships and the SRCC was indeed fortunate that he was able to help us and become a much valued part of the sports 2000 family.
The club benefitted hugely from his experience and guidance particularly in framing and applying sporting and technical regulations. Jon was always very practical and took a pragmatic view of how club racing should work.
Jon started his motorsport involvement in the mid 80’s progressing through the ranks of National and International events and became one of twelve technical commissioners appointed by Motorsport UK.
He oversaw eligibility of a number of high profile championships including British GT and worked with the FIA to assist with various GT and hill climb events around the world.
Jon was a devoted volunteer official who always tried to work with competitors to overcome any technical issues.
Alongside his wife Sue the pair were regular members of the BRSCC organising team at race weekend.
The SRCC wishes to extend its deepest condolences to Sue, the Crook family and all Jon s friends across motorsport and beyond.
