Duratec Race Report

Michael Gibbins shared the front row of the grid with Tom Stoten, Michael made the best start to be followed by a fast starting Paul Trayhurn and David Houghton. As Michael and Paul traded fastest laps at the head of the field, Josh Law having a strong race moved in to 3rd with Tom improving up to 4th position with Lewis Kent not far behind. Sadly Pauls great drive chasing Michael for the lead of the race ended with an unfortunate crash that bought out the safety car. Michael lead away at the restart and although Josh and Tom closed the gap for a short while due to lapping of back markers, Michael, this years 2019 Duratec champion drove a controlled race to take a measured victory. Josh and Tom continued to have an entertaining hard but fair race for 2nd place with Tom finally coming out on top to leave Josh in an excellent 3rd and in doing so deservedly was awarded the driver of the day. Lewis finished an impressive 4th ahead of David Houghton with Chris Yarwood having a consistent race coming home in 7th place and winning class B. Mike Turner drove a good race and in doing so took the Derek Bell class honours. Peter Williams finished 2nd on the road to Mike thereby winning the 2019 Duratec Derek Bell trophy.

Pinto Race Report

Championship contenders, Paul Streat and Peter Needham lined up on the front row for the final round of the 2019 Pinto championship.
As the lights went out, Paul stalled on the grid leaving Peter to lead in to Paddock Hill bend from Mike Fry and a fast starting Chris Snowden who had come from row 5, Mike Dodd and Charlie Besley both retired early on and Tom Stoten encountered problems during the early laps leaving Nick and Ross Hyett 4th and 5th in close company. Paul Streat made good progress after his problems at the start and set about catching the race leader Peter Needham, behind the front two a great battle ensued between Nick, Ross and Chris Snowden. After several laps in close company the lead battle changed when Peter ran wide through Clearways ending his race and championship hopes in the gravel trap, leaving Paul to continue on to win the race and take the Pinto championship overall. Mira Feyerabend ended her race in the same gravel trap as Peter late on bringing out the safety car, on the restart Chris Snowden out foxed Nick and Ross to move up to 3rd place. Mike Fry took a well driven 2nd position with Tom Stoten improving late in the race to finish 6th overall. Colin Feyerabend came home 7th taking Pinto Derek Bell honours.

Many thanks to Nick bates for these reports.
