Brands Hatch Indy Formula Ford Festival – Oct 20/21st 2018 Race Report

The 2018 Sports 2000 season ended on a high on a bright day at Brands Hatch.

The dry track conditions made for excellent racing between the Pinto and Duratec classes, with fast lap times being recorded by both classes.

Our Pinto and Duratec Champions both took pole at Brands. In Pinto, Paul Streat in the Lola T87/90 posted the fastest time of 50.111, eight tenths ahead of Mike Dodd’s Tiga.

Meanwhile, the Gunns of Tom Stoten and Charles Hall made up the front of the Duratec grid, ahead of a clutch of MCRs.

In Race One, and despite meeting traffic as early as lap 6, the front three remained unaltered until the last lap, where David Houghton pipped Tim Tudor to third position. In Pinto, the front-runners all held their positions, save for the retirement of Chris Snowdon after only 6 laps. Further back, a good drive from Colin Feyerbrand saw him finish ahead of Mike Fry and Clive Steeper who had both out-qualified him.

Race two’s grid was determined by the results of Race one.

Car number 1 belonging to Tom Stoten failed to start Race two, meaning Ben Cater was free to lead from start to finish. Behind him, a poor start led to David Houghton finishing fifth – Tim Tudor and Dominic Lesniewski capitalising to complete the top 3.

In Pinto, Clive Steeper made up three places to finish third, behind Paul Streat and Mike Dodd.
