The Sports 2000 community was deeply sadden by the news of John Webb’s death.
John Webb was a driving force in the early days of the creation of Sports 2000’s birth and remained a great supporter and promoter of Sports 2000. John was one of the key visionaries for UK Motor Racing in the 1970/80s. He was responsible for launching many racing series including Sports 2000, Formula Ford 2000 and Formula Ford 1600. As MD of Motor Circuit Developments who ran Brands, Snetterton and later Oulton Park, John, having seen the opportunity to bring affordable sports car racing to the national racing scene, was a major influencer in the creation of Sports 2000 racing. Here at SRCC we owe John Webb a huge vote of thanks for our present racing, which in 2024 celebrates 45 years of racing.
