Welcome back…

For our second race meeting of season 2022 SRCC are returning with MSVR to Silverstone; a circuit where Sports 2000 have enjoyed many close slip streaming races through the years.

After the hugely successful race meeting art Donington earlier this month we will be having separate races for our Historic Pinto cars and the modern Duratec versions.

The Apsley House sponsored races at Donington provide some great racing with dices all the way through the 21 car supported Historic Pinto grids. To view the races see the links below:

Duratec – Race 1

Duratec – Race 2

Historic (Pinto) – Race 1

Historic (Pinto) – Race 2

To celebrate the return of such heathy Pinto grids in our Historic Only races The SRCC wish to mark the resurgence of the Pinto class by inviting along a number of the original Sports 2000 competitors and constructors, who contributed so much to Sports 2000 in the early days of the championship, to join us on the 24th April as our guests.

A number of them competed in the very first Sports 2000 races in 1977 when the championship was first run by John Webb of Brands Hatch and Motor Circuit Developments.

We hope that there will be over 20 guest including Howden Ganley partner in Tiga and former Formula 1 driver, Nick Adams who competed at a high level in world sports car racing, John Brindley, Chris Alford, John” Pancho”Webb, Dud Mosley, Rod Gretton, Nick Linney among others. In addition Richard Owen constructor of Shrike cars and Alan Cornock constructor of Royale Cars have been invited.

Following these two initial stand alone race meetings (Donington & Silverstone) which have attracted very healthy c.20 cars, we are excited for the future of the SRCC Historic (Pinto) class and look forward to seeing many of the cars out again during this season.

We are already working behind the scenes to organise more Historic (Pinto) Only races in 2023 and believe this will help Historic Sports 2000 races to have stronger and stronger grids.

We look forward to welcome all the Sports 2000 community at Silverstone. Please come along and see us in the National Paddock and old GP garages.
